Zoolander No. 2 - 3 Stars

Funny, unintelligent sequel to 2001 cult classic offers plenty of laughs and a whole range of hysterical celebrity cameos.

In 2001 Derek Zoolander was the world’s top male supermodel...15 years later in this blockbuster sequel, Derek, Hansel, and Mugatu are back! This time they will be joined by some really, really, ridiculously good-looking celebrities.

I had fun watching this movie, it really is enjoyable – there are a lot of laughs. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are amazing, they play these roles with obvious ease and Penélope Cruz perfectly fits in with the ensemble. Most of the cast list is unreleased, but I can safely say – without spoiling too much - Kiefer Sutherland and Sting are superb in their roles. Will Ferrell returns as Mugatu and he is very funny, but his dialogue is never as funny as Stiller’s. The normally solid Kirsten Wiig underperforms in real role, yet Kyle Mooney is fantastic.

The writing is solid for a comedy film and it clearly knows what it is and it doesn’t attempt to be more intelligent or serious.

Overall it’s 100 minutes of utterly stupid laughs, filled with beautifully perfected celebrity cameos and it gives the normally unlikable Stiller and Wilson a huge chance to shine.
