In 2010 24 year old Benjamin Maio Mackay started The Preachrs Podcast that created fan based content around the popular sci-fi show, Doctor Who.

 

Over its four year run celebrating Doctor Who and all things science fiction the site reached over 25 million hits and Benjamin subsequently was invited to present programs about science-fiction television for ABC Radio. Benjamin interviewed over 70 people from the worlds of Doctor Who, including Sylvester McCoy, Peter Davison, Caitlin Blackwood, Kata O’Mara, Anneke Wills and Nicholas Briggs. Benjamin also chatted to a number of celebrity fans including Wil Anderson, Justin Hamilton, Andrew Hansen and Adam Richard.

 

Benjamin also directed, produced and performed in 24 Original Audio Dramas and wrote many of the scripts. Thanks to the generous sponsors of the company; Big Finish Productions, Mad Zombie Collectables and the Doctor Who Club of Australia, and BBC on DVD AU, Benjamin was able to review numerous products that related to the world of science fiction TV.

 

They also wrote and toured four stage shows celebrating Dr Who (produced by Preachrs Productions). Two were major touring productions (50 Years of Doctor Who: Preachrs Podcast Live! and 50 Years of Doctor Who: Preachrs Podcast Live 2!) that played to sold out Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney audiences. Benjamin was joined on the tours by actor and comedian Rob Lloyd (who also guested on the podcast). Benjamin also wrote/performed two “convention shows,” one for the widely acclaimed Convention Oz Comic Con and one for a 50th Anniversary celebration event.
