You’re Killing Me Susana - 2 Stars

This dysfunctional relationship provides for a laughable comedy, but ultimately leaves a sour, depressing taste.

"Me Estas Matando Susana" takes us on Eligio's quest to find and recover his wife, Susana, who without a word, left Mexico City behind for a writer's conference held in the chilly U.S. heartland.

Gael García Bernal is charismatic and charming in the lead and Verónica Echegui is equally as excellent opposite him. The script is where it suffers though, despite the laughs its ultimately a sad, soul-crushing relationship to watch. It probably drags a little too long though and relies heavily on both American and Mexican stereotypes. The performances are the saving grace, but the ending is truly awkward to watch.

Overall the only good thing here are the actors. The Cine Latino Festival runs at Palace Cinemas nation wide for the next 2 weeks.
