Ridiculous “true story” of A Christmas Carol has weak scripting and a lot of overacting.
The journey that led to Charles Dickens' creation of "A Christmas Carol," a timeless tale that would redefine the holiday.
Tis the season of Christmas films and every year they get more ridiculous. The premise is ridiculous, Charles Dickens is struggling to write a new book and the ghost/spirit of Scrooge visits him for inspiration. The cast is really quite exceptional boasting Christopher Plummer, Jonathan Pryce, Stephen Fry and Dan Stevens, however none really get the time to shine. The script is very poor, it attempts to walk the line between comedy, true story and “family oriented” Christmas film. It fails as it bites off more than it can chew. The only comedic attempt is to get everyone to give pantomime-esq performances, which is a disservice to all involved.
Overall another sub-par Christmas film.
