The Intern - 3.5 Stars

This enjoyable comedy has heart and shows that friendship can transcend age.

Anne Hathaway has never been one of my favourite actresses and her performances tend to annoy me. This is not an exception, though it certainly is one of her better performances. Her character seemed too over the top in her happiness and enthusiasm and had slightly estranged reactions to some situations. Robert DeNiro, however was superb. His performance was touching, emotional and his comedic moments were played sublimely. The overall supporting cast was strong.

While enjoyable, the script wasn’t overly strong and the music and cinematography brought nothing new to the table. It would be very easy for me to pick apart the technical side of things in this film, but there simply wouldn't be a point as this movie was never intended to be anything other than fun!

Overall it is a fun, enjoyable film that fans of rom-coms will love!
