The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 - 4.5 Stars

The third installment in the Hunger Games franchise is sublime and is a perfect analogy, and commentary on current world issues.

This film finds Katniss Everdeen in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta and a nation moved by her courage.

The casting of this franchise has always been amazing and this film is no exception, added to the leading cast of this film is Julianne Moore as President Coin. She brings a perfect combination of eagerness and detachment to the role, making her seem a very powerful leader. Sam Clafin also really stands out in this film; while his scenes are limited he steals every scene he is in! Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson are all superb and each actor brings a new layer or dimension to their character in this film, and all these actors achieve this brilliantly! Jennifer Lawrence is still brilliant as Katniss and there is one scene (well song) in particular that really brought a tear to my eye!

The plot is still amazing, with numerous political undertones and messages, as well as being an entertaining and emotional story. The cinematography is amazing and each scene looks visually stunning!

Overall the casting is amazing, the plot and visuals are sublime, and you can enjoy this film even without seeing the earlier installments in the series! I strongly encourage everyone to check out this film!
