Ricki and The Flash - 4 Stars

Meryl Streep’s latest cinematic adventure is very enjoyable and has some great music.

I wasn’t expecting too much from Ricki and the Flash, but it really surprised me – it had tender moments, it had humorous moments and some exceptional performances.  Meryl Streep is, as always outstanding both in the musical performances and in the film in general. She really carries the film. The film also has strong performances from Kevin Kline, Sebastian Stan and Audra McDonald.

Critically the direction and script are nothing to get excited about – but from an enjoyment perspective this is one of the most enjoyable films of the year.

Overall it’s not a critical masterpiece, but it’s lots and lots of fun. If you’re looking to enjoy yourself at the cinema this is one of the best films of the year!
