Steven Spielberg’s best adventure film in years.
When the creator of a virtual reality world called the OASIS dies, he releases a video in which he challenges all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune.
Speilberg has always directed a wide variety of films, often with varying success. He’s known for incredible dramas and back in the day Indiana Jones was excellent, but his adventure films often fall flat. However, this is a rare, brilliant exception. Ready Player One is not only a social warning about virtual reality, but a fun, thrilling sci-fi romp. Featuring characters and callbacks to The Shining, Back to the Future, Overwatch, Chucky and more this will delight any pop culture nerd. Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke really are excellent in the leads, but Ben Mendelsohn and Lena Waithe are the real scene stealers.
Overall with a strong script, amazing CGI and excellent performances this a thrilling night out.
