Only the Brave - 4.5 Stars

Jennifer Connolly shines in this moving account of true events.

Based on the true story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a group of elite firefighters who risk everything to protect a town from a historic wildfire.

Only The Brave manages to remarkably detail and depict actual events with class, tact and ease. Everything about the film felt respectful to those who lost their lives and those who survived. The cinematography and music were exceptional and Jennifer Connolly gives her best performance in years. This movie manages the remarkable and makes you sympathetic towards Miles Teller’s character. Teller is typically unlikeable, but he gives a remarkable performance. It really is a team effort though, as all 20 actors portraying the firefighters are excellent. Both Josh Brolin and Jeff Bridges could be looking at serious love this awards season.

Overall an exceptional film, certainly the best I’ve seen in the past few months.
