Fabulous cast acts up a storm in the frivolously funny film.
When his uptight CEO sister threatens to shut down his branch, the branch manager throws an epic Christmas party in order to land a big client and save the day, but the party gets way out of hand...
Despite its enormously weak pretence the film offers a surprisingly enjoyable ride. The script isn’t exactly great, the story is very flimsy, what makes it fun is the exceptional cast. Jason Bateman and Jennifer Anniston have a solid rapport, over their careers they’ve made a bunch of adult comedies, and this one is no different. The real scene-stealer is Kate McKinnon who is utterly sublime and I can’t wait to see more of her work in the future. Vanessa Bayer, TJ Miller and Olivia Wilde also shine.
It’s clearly got a “no-expense spared” vibe and that along with its clever soundtrack help create the tone of the film.
Overall the film is a good solid 90 minutes of fun, with a tremendous cast, but don’t expect anything intellectual.
