Irrational Man - 4.5 Stars

Woody Allen’s latest film is a triumph.

It’s really a modern take on Crime and Punishment, it questions morality and if murder can ever be justified. The philosophy behind this movie is very interesting and the actors deliver the dialogue brilliantly. Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone are both superb and their character development and unlikely love story is played amazingly. Joaquin Phoenix could certainly win an Oscar for this role. Woody Allen’s script and direction is, as always genius.

The music as always is very similar to every other Woody Allen film ever made, but it does blend with the film very well. Though a change in musical tone would’ve been nice.

Overall a superb film that questions so many conventional values with potentially Oscar winning performances. I do encourage anyone who likes a thought provoking movie – this is it!
