I Am Heath Ledger - 4 Stars

A true insight into the mind of a unique artist.

I AM HEATH LEDGER is a feature length documentary celebrating the life of Heath Ledger: actor, artist and icon. The documentary provides an intimate look at Heath Ledger through the lens of his own camera as he films and often performs in his own personal journey.

This film helps to reframe public perception of Heath, most only knew him as an actor. This shows him as an artist. His visual understanding, musicality and directorial skills are all remarkable - but it's not what he's remembered for. The documentary speaks to numerous family, friends and co-workers of his, but instead of focusing on his death, it reveals in his achievements - which for an 11 year career were remarkable. His journey was a whirlwind one, but this film shows his pure enjoyment.

Overall it's a fascinating insight into his functionality and how other people related to him. It's only in cinemas for a week and it's certainly one not to miss.
