Hearts Beat Loud - 5 Stars

Beautifully crafted, sentimental brief glimpse into a father and daughter’s lives.

A father and daughter form an unlikely songwriting duo in the summer before she leaves for college.

A great portion of this film hinges on the incredible rapport between Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons. Both offer layered, subtle performances that do feel very real. The constantly changing dynamic seems to mirror actual family life brilliantly. The supporting cast including Ted Danson and Toni Collette are excellent in their roles too.

Writer/Director Brett Haley has crafted excellent characters and let us in to a snippet of their lives - it’s very reminiscent in that way of Once. There’s no real conclusion to the film, as these characters continue to live and exist in their world.

Overall a lovely movie about human relationships.
