Hail, Caesar! - 4.5 Starsed

Quite simply one of the funniest, most intelligent comedies in a very long time.

This film knows exactly what it is, funny, ludicrous and a send up of Hollywood. If you’re in the entertainment industry or surrounded by it this film will resonate even more, but general punters can still enjoy it.

The actors are clearly having a lot of fun making this, George Clooney is superb – his acting is fantastic and he gets to preform a full range of emotions. Most importantly, his comic timing superb, this is a side of Clooney you rarely get to see on screen.

Josh Brolin really holds this film together, his character is the centre of the plot – the binding force between these unique characters. His portrayal is excellent. Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Scartlett Johansson and Channing Tatum are all also superb is their roles.

The Coen brothers’ script and direction is on point and brilliant – the film’s script is witty, intelligent and unpredictable – all necessary elements in a comedy of this sort.

This film could’ve easily been a disaster, but instead it’s one of the best comedies to hit screens in a long time. If you’re looking for an intelligent laugh this is your best bet!
