Baby Driver - 5 Stars

Edgar Wright astonishes with action packed heist film.

After being coerced into working for a crime boss, a young getaway driver finds himself taking part in a heist doomed to fail.

The premise doesn't sound that original, but director/writer Edgar Wright’s unique viewpoint manages to captivate from the outset. His characters are more than just crime film archetypes, each fascinating in their own right. Actors John Hamm, Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jaime Foxx and Eiza González all offer excellent performances. Ansel Elgort has never really been given the proper opportunity to shine, until now that is. He, with very few words, makes the audience emotionally invest in his character. His performance is wonderful.

The action sequences look amazing and the film’s editing is stunning. The film’s soundtrack, to which the movie is timed is cleverly integrated into the story. The jokes witty and sharp, the characters unique and the action big - there’s really nothing to complain about.

Overall an excellent, original piece of cinema that I can’t wait to watch again.
