Crass, tacky and unfunny - no, I’m talking about The Boss, not it’s star Melissa McCarthy.
The story follows Michelle Darnell, a titan of industry who is sent to prison after she’s convicted of insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America’s latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget.
What a uniquely, unfunny, terrible premise. What confounds me is that Peter Dinklage and Kristen Bell, two wonderfully talented actors were roped in to such an abominable picture. It is rare that something is this bad. Melissa McCarthy co-wrote the film and her husband directed, it is clear that without her star power this would never have been made. McCarthy is just not funny, she’s crass - her humour is unnecessary, she’s made maybe 1 good film in her entire career.
Avoid this movie at all costs, life is short.
