Swiss Army Man - 4 Stars

One of the most innovative and interesting story lines in a long time.

Hank (Paul Dano) is stranded on a deserted island, having given up all hope of ever making it home again. But one day everything changes when a corpse named Manny (Daniel Radcliffe) washes up on shore; the two become fast friends, and ultimately go on an epic adventure that will bring Hank back to the woman of his dreams.

This movie is utterly absurd, heart-warming, tear-jerking, funny and strange all at once. It is very difficult to explain - yet somehow it is simply one of the most creative films to come out of Hollywood. In a time when everything’s a sequel, reboot, spin-off or adaption this comes as a nice change.

It has amazing music, superb performances and a riveting script that you simply can’t predict. It’s the first time that Daniel Radcliffe really breaks the Harry Potter mould and he’s splendid. Paul Dano is also incredible and the rest of the cast only have minor roles, but are also excellent.

Overall it’s superb, one you simply can’t miss - but prepare for the unusual and unexpected!
